How to Enable SMTP Authentication


i7MEDIA requires customers to enable SMTP Authentication in order to send mail from email programs installed on computers such as Outlook, Apple Mail, Windows Mail and eM Client or on mobile devices

Email software you can set up to access your e-mail on your PC (there are many others, if you need help with software that isn't listed here, please open a ticket).

Windows Mail (PC)

  1. From the Tools menu, select "Manage Accounts"
  2. Next, click or tap your i7MEDIA E-mail account.
  3. Click or tap "Change mailbox sync settings".
  4. Scroll down and click or tap "Advanced mailbox settings".
  5. Make sure the following items are checked (enabled):
    • Outgoing server requires authentication
    • Use the same user name and password for sending email
    • Require SSL for incoming email
    • Require SSL for outgoing email
  6. Click the "Done" button.
  7. Click the "Save" button.

Microsoft Outlook 2010 (PC)

  1. From the File menu, select "Info" and choose "Account Settings"
  2. Select your i7MEDIA Email account and click the "Change" button above.Click the "More Settings..." button in the bottom-right corner of the E-Mail Accounts window.In the Internet Email Settings window, click the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  3. Ensure that the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" is checked and "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.
  4. Click the "Advanced" tab and make sure that "Use the following type of encrypted connection" is set to "TLS" for the outgoing (SMTP) port settings.
  5. Change the outgoing server port to 587.
