The Multi-Tenant feature of mojoPortal allows one to create several logical websites using one codebase, database, and IIS website. This can be very beneficial because it is easier to upgrade a single website when a new version of mojoPortal is released and it can cut down on costs associated with hosting. i7MEDIA does warn those who wish to use this feature to think about some consequences as well. Using this feature for personal sites or small business sites that belong to the same business is not an issue. Using this feature for business websites of businesses that are not owned or governed by the same person, or group of people, can pose issues when/if the businesses decides to move their hosting to another server due to performance of one site over the other or to another hosting provider entirely.
There are two options for Multi-Tenancy, Host Name and Folders. Which method you use depends on your own business requirements. If you choose to use folder-based multi-tenancy (your-domain.com/folder), you can follow the instructions on the mojoPortal website and you don't need to do anything with your hosting. If you choose to use host name multi-tenancy, you'll want to follow the instructions in our "Assigning a Host Header (Pointer/Binding) to Your Web Site" article along with the mojoPortal documentation.
